Absolute poverty
A situation where a person or family does not have enough income to meet basic human needs
Poverty
An inability to satisfy minimum consumption needs
Poverty line
An income level that is considered sufficient to satisfy minimum needs set by governments
Relative poverty
A concept that compares the income of individuals or households in a society with median incomes
Minimum income standards (MIS)
A method to measure poverty that uses information from a population about what they believe is a minimum acceptable standard of income, then calculates a minimum income for different family types
Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)
A composite indicator that measures poverty through health, education and living standards
What are some difficulties in measuring poverty?
