*may be combined with S.R as well
When/ why are Dermal Fillers used?
Used for lip enhancements, volume replacement, wrinkles and folds
How do injectable fillers work?
- the mechanism of action is very simple: a small needle is used to position the filler under the wrinkle or in an area of volume loss
- immediate results are seen
What are injectable fillers made of?
-hyaluronic acid
—a naturally occurring gel found in our eyes and joints
—however, the gel is replicated in a laboratory
—-> no other animals or human products are used in its production
How long do effects of fillers last?
- individual results vary, however the average person can expect 6-8 months of correction
- As the gel breaks down, return for another session
Where does filler go when it breaks down?
-filler breaks down in to smaller pieces
—eventually the pieces dissolve down into water and is filler absorbed and removes by the body
—no trace of the filler remains after it has been broken down
In case of hyaluronic acid allergy:
Allergy to hyaluronic acid is rare, but we cannot treat someone who has had an allergic reaction in the past
After care for dermal fillers:
-Using a needle to inject the gel disturbs the tissue. In response to the stimulation the tissue will be pink and there will be some swelling
In general:
- facial lines/ wrinkles - mild swelling 1-2 days
- Lips -moderate swelling 2- 4 days
Contraindications for pregnancy:
- there are no studies done during pregnancy, so we prefer not to treat women who are currently pregnant
