What are communicable diseases caused by?
Infective organisms known as PATHOGENS.
What are the 4 types of pathogens?
(1) BACTERIA
(2) VIRUSES
(3) FUNGI
(4) PROTOCTISTA
What are communicable diseases?
A disease which can be passed from one organismto another.
In ANIMALS they are mostcommonly spread from one individual of the species to another, but they can also be spread between species.
In PLANTS communicable diseases are spread from directly plant to plant.
What are VECTORS?
They carry pathogens from one organism to another, are involved in the spread of a number of important plant and animal diseases.
Common examples : water and insects
What are BACTERIA?
They are PROKARYOTES (so they have a very different cell structure) from the Eukarya
