- permanent vacuole
What is the function of the nucleus?
Controls all the activities of the cell and surrounded by the nuclear membrane. It contains genes and chromosomes.
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
A liquid gel in which the organelles are suspended and where most of the chemical reactions happen.
What is the function the cell membrane?
Controls the passage of substances such as glucose and mineral ions into the cell. Also controls the movement of substances such as urea.
What is the function of mitochondria?
This is where aerobic respiration occurs releasing energy for the cell.
What is the function of ribosomes?
Where protein synthesis occurs, making all the proteins needed in the cell.
What is the function of chloroplasts?
They contain a green substance which is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs light so that the plant can make food by photosynthesis.
What is the function of a cell wall?
The cell wall is made of cellulose that strengthens the cell and gives support.
What is the function of the permanent vacuole?
Is space in the cytoplasm filled with cell sap, which is important for keeping the cells rigid to support the plant.
