Describe visual inspection as a examination of the body and give an example

A

looking at a patient and noting whether the patient has normal facial expressions, any abnormalities in gait or posture, abnormalities in the color of the eyes and skin, muscle tone, abnormal bulges, etc
Examples: yellowish skin and sclera in jaundice, bluish tint to skin and lips in cyanosis

A

feeling through the skin using pressure and the sense of touch
Example: feeling of abdominal and pelvic organs during exam to ensure normal size and density of the organ

using a stethoscope to listen to the sounds an organ makes
Example: listening of the heart and lungs during a physical exam to check for abnormal heart murmurs or lung sounds
