Coping functions (purpose of emotion)
the emotion during a life tasks emergies and directs behaviour in adaptive ways. Individuals experince and cultural learning over time greatly expands the behavioural actions and strategies
Social functions
assumption that people are social by nature.Emotion expressions are potent, nonverbal messages that communicate our feelings to others
Biological perspective
typically emphasizes basic emotion, with a lower limit of two or three to an upper limit of 8
Gray proposes three basic emotions based on the number of seperate anatomic brain circuits : Joy, Fear and anxiety
Cognitive perspective
assets family that human being experince a greater number of emotions than half-dozen
Emotion regulation
refers to how we try to influence which emotion we have, when we have them and how we experince and express those emotions
