What is Medicaid?
Medicaid provides health coverage to millions of Americans, including low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities. Medicaid is administered by states, according to federal requirements. The program is funded jointly by states and the federal government.
What is the relationship between nursing and Primary Care Centers?
Advanced Practice RNs (APRN), nurse practitioners, midwives, and clinical nurse specialists work independently or collaboratively with physicians to make assessments and care for patients who require health maintenance or health promotion activities
What are Ambulatory Care Centers?
Centers and clinics in hospitals or freestanding in which services are provided by a group of health care providers who work together. Many Ambulatory Care Centers and clinics offer walk-in services.
Who provides Home Health Care? Growth expectation of Home Health Care? What payment system is it drive by? What are three services this format of care includes?
1) May be provided through community health departments, visiting nurses’ associations, hospital-based case managers, and home health agencies
2) It is the most rapidly growing area of the health system
3) Reimbursement - early discharge from hospitals
4) Skilled nursing assessment, teaching and support of patients and family members, and direct care for patients
What are three types of Health Care Services for the Seriously Ill and Dying?
1) Respite Care - provides short-term relief for primary caregivers
2) Hospice Services - medical care to help someone wtih a terminal illness live as well as possible for as long as possible, increasing quality of life
3) Palliative Care - specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness wtih the goal if improving quality of life for both the patient and the family
