Nope, the government tricked them because the native Hawaiian population of plantation workers decreased. So they had to find new people.

Most of them separated from each culture, but the other people who weren’t separated were not too happy about that and they got into fights with each other.

The Bango had a metal identification tag that had a number stamped on it. They had to wear it around their neck EVERYWHERE they went!

They lived in camps on the plantation grounds.

What happened in 1898?
There was a contract and now Labor is only volunteering. And not a lot of people left when they heard this!

They said to start families so they could feel more settled

They arrange marriage with a women from their home country. Often the parents forced the daughters to do this because the men were wealthy. but some volunteer so they can escape from home.
