Ethnoscapes
- the flow of people across boundaries
- landscapes of persons who constitute the shifting world in which we live
ex. tourists (getting service vs treating locals like servants), immigrants, refugees, exiles, guest workers, and other moving groups and individuals
Technoscapes
- flows of technology
- the global configuration of technology and the fact that technology, both high and low, both mechanical and informational, now plays a role in the organization of social life that is central and pervasive
ex. iPhone (exportation: distribution of wealth)
Financescapes
- flow of money across political borders
- the disposition of global capital, or what I call the movement of money and credit, of stocks and bonds, and of other kinds of financial instruments and transactions across national borders
ex. Spanish using sliver from Bolivia to pay back Europe, New York Stock Exchange
Mediascapes
- the flow of media across borders
- the distribution of the electronic capabilities to produce and disseminate information and the images of the world that are created by these media
ex. Brazilian tv providing Bollywood and Canadian movies, watching World Cup or Olympics
Ideoscapes
- the flow of ideas
- the distribution of the ideologies of the world and the ideologies of states and the counterideologies that are produced in reaction to them
ex. posting opinions on Facebook, Christian missionaries to the Amazon (indirect translation of the bible)

- financescape: going to other countries bc of cheap labour
- technoscape: equipment used to produce and deliver the shirts
- ethnoscape: migrating to live closer to work
- mediascape: marketing
