- collecting blood culture samples first
- do not scrape needle across skin
- inoculate anaerobic blood culture bottle first except with the butterfly
- gently mix vials with resin beads to neutralize antibiotics
- if 2 sets are ordered, 2nd set should be taken at different site and/or different time than the first
