Chapter 10.2- Making Things Happen Flashcards
Law of conservation of energy
A law that states that energy cannot be made or lost. Energy can be transformed from one type to another or even transferred from one object to another
Gravitational energy
Potential energy of an object elevated above the ground.
Elastic energy
Energy stores by an electric object that is stretched, such as a spring or rubber band.
Chemical energy
When reacted together such as in burning reactions, release heat, sound or light.
Nuclear energy
Atoms that can release energy slowly, such as in a nuclear reactor, or quickly, such as in a nuclear explosion.
Electrical energy
Energy supplied to homes by powerlines and available to your appliance s via power outlets in the home.
Kinetic energy
Something that is moving.
Heat energy
Energy that causes objects to get warm/gain temperature.
Light energy
When an object is hot or by a nuclear reaction in a star
Sound energy
Sound energy is something that you hear and detected by the ear.
