Metaphor
a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
Debts
Money that is owed to someone else. People have debts whey they have borrowed money and promised to pay it pay.
Acts
Laws created or passed by a government. For example, the stamp was a law that was passed by the British.
Taxation without representation
Forcing people to pay taxes when they have no say in making the law that created the tax. America colonists we’re angry about paying taxes that were passed by the British, where they had no representation.
Protest
To complain publicly about something that people believe is wrong or unfair.
Parliament
The lawmaking part of British government, similar to the congress in the United States. The American colonists did not have the right to elect representatives to parliament.
Repeal
To take bake or cancel a law
