Debt Device
A linked system of processes that gather resources, convert them into goods, package them for distribution, disperse them, and sell them on the market
Commodity chains

Default
The process by which formerly fertile lands become increasingly arid, unproductive, and desert like
Desertification
Areas where the governments create favorable investment and trading conditions to attract export oriented industries
Export Processing Zone
Sector which encompasses all jobs with normal hours and regular wages and are recognized as income sources on which income taxes must be paid
Formal economy
The total value of goods and services produced within the borders of a country during a specific period of time, usually one year
Gross Domestic Products (GDP)
The total value of goods and services, including income received from abroad, produced by the residents of a country within a specific time period, usually one year
Gross National Product (GNP)
Those countries including countries in Africa, except for South Africa, and parts of South America and Asia, that usually have low levels of economic productivity, low per capita incomes, and generally low standards of living
Least developing countries
The ability to read and write of a country, and average
Literacy rate
The disease caused by Mosquitos in tropical and subtropical regions
Malaria
Those US firms that have factories just outside the United States and Mexican border in areas that have been specifically designated by the Mexican government
Maquiladoras
An agreement for free trade between the United States and Canada and Mexico in 1994
NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement)
An organization not apart of government or a conventional for-profit business

The economic and political policies by which a great power indirectly maintains or extends its influence over other areas or people
