What is the pump of the circulatory system?
The heart.
Where is the heart located?
Between the lungs and behind th sternum.
The heart is surrounded by?
The pericardial sac.
The Pericardial Sac is made up of what three layers?
Epicardium (outermost layer), Myocardium (middle layer) and Endocardium (innermost layer).
How many chambers the heart has?
4 chambers.
The two upper chambers are known as?
Atria.
The two lower chambers are known as?
Ventricles.
What does the Atria do?
Collect blood and deliver it to ventricles.
What does the Ventricles do?
Pump the blood to the systemic and pulmonary circulations.
The right and left halves of the heart are divided by?
A wall called the septum.
What does the Heart Valves do?
Permit the blood to flow through the heart in only one direction.
On its external surface, the heart is surrounded by?
Coronary arteries.
What does the Coronary arteries do?
Supply the myocardium with its blood supply from which oxygen and nutrients are obtained.
