Agreement where Spain and Portugal divided up the Western Hemisphere between them
Cash crop
A crop that is grown to be sold, not used by the farmer
Indentured servant
A person who has agreed to work for another for a limited period, often in exchange for travel, food, and shelter

The large-scale movement of African-Americans from the south to northern cities in the early 20th century

King Philip’s War
In 1675, Native Americans attacked outlying settlements throughout New England. Lasted 2 years before Native Americans surrendered or fled.
Mercantilism
Economic system where countries increase their wealth by obtaining lots of gold and silver or by establishing a favorable balance of trade
