The first comprehensive guidelines on physical activity to be issued by the US government. These guidelines list the following major research findings regarding physical activity and its associated health benefits:
- Regular physical activity reduces the risk of many adverse health outcomes.
- Some physical activity is better than none.
- For most health outcomes, additional benefits occur as the amount of physical activity increases through higher intensity, greater frequency, and/ or longer duration.
How many minutes a week is recommended for the health benefits of physical activity?
Most health benefits occur with at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity physical activity, such as brisk walking. Additional benefits occur with more physical activity.
What is the definition of autonomous?
• Having the freedom to act independently.
What do Athletic Trainers do?
• Teach athletes exercises to prevent injury and take them through therapeutic exercises following injury.
What do RDs do?
Teach clients proper nutrition through recipes, meal plans, food preparation methods, and implementation of specialized diets.
Scope of Practice.
The range and limit of responsibilities normally associated with a specific job or profession. The legal range of services that professionals in a given field can provide, the settings in which those services can be provided, and the guidelines or parameters that must be followed.
Personal Trainers do not:
Diagnose, prescribe, prescribe diets or recommend specific supplements, treat injury or disease, Monitor progress for medically referred clients, rehabilitate, counsel, work with clients.
