-focused on development of a sense of self & discovery of motivations behind a person’s behavior other than sexual motivations

-explains how voluntary behavior is learned
-introduces concept of reinforcement
Humanistic Perspective(Maslow & Carl Rogers)
-people have free will: the freedom to choose their own destiny
-reaction to both psychoanalytic & behaviorism
