Pitch

Melody

Range

Contour
The overall shape of a melodic line. It can move upward or downward or remain static. (page 8)
Interval
The distance and relationship between two pitches. (page 8)
Conjunct
Smooth, connected melody that moves principally by small intervals. (page 8)
Disjunct
Disjointed or disconnected melody with many leaps. (page 8)
Phrase
A musical unit; often a component of a melody. (page 8)
