Digital Literacy
An electronic devices, operating under control of instructions stored in its own memory that can accept, process the data, produce information, and store.
Computer
It can be touched.
An electronic, and mechanical components that a computer contains.
Hardware
Cannot be touched but can be seen.
A collection of related instructions organized.
Software
It can perform all its input, processing, output, storage activities by itself.
It is intended to be used by one person at a time.
Personal Computer
A portable personal computer, designed so that a user can carry it from place to place (laptop and tablet).
Mobile Computer
Anyone who interact with a computer or mobile device.
User
A light weight mobile computer that is a portable PCs that combine the display, keyboard, processor, memory, hard drive, and cursor.
Laptop
A smaller version of laptop that is a touch screen. It is run on batteries or a power supply or both.
Tablet
It is designed to be in stationary location with components that fit on or under a desk. It has a tower where the motherboard is located.
Desktop
A computer that combines all desktop components in one enclosed unit, instead of having a separate computer tower from the display monitor.
All In One Desktop Computer
It is referred to as “Microcomputer”.
Personal Computer
A computer dedicated to providing one or more services to other computers or devices on a network. It has a powerful processors, large hard drives, and plenty of memory power. This mostly are connected with multiple clients.
Server
A collection of computers and devices connected together.
Network
A computer that is operated under the control of instructions stored in their own memory. It can be carried everywhere with even just a hand.
Mobile Device
Mostly touch screens that can listen to music, take photos, record videos, and install applications like mobile games.
Smartphone
used to capture or photographed images digitally.
Digital Camera
Can communicate to other devices and modify images to desired outcomes.
Smart Digital camera
This can store, organize, and play or view digital media such as music, photos, and videos. Example for this is earbuds.
Portable Media Player
An electronic version of a printed book, readable on computers and other devices.
E-book reader
Is a small, mobile computing consumer device designed to be worn (smartwatch). This mostly used as activity trackers like heart rates and count steps.
Wearable device
Designed for single or multiplayer video games. Mostly attached to television due to its big screen.
Game Console
Smaller enough to fit in one hand, making it more portable (PSP).
Handheld game device
A raw, unorganized numbers, signals, or facts.
Data
An organized facts which undergone a process to be able to understand.
Information
Contains keys to press to enter data and instructions into a computer or mobile device.
Keyboard
Allows a user to control a small symbol on a screen.
Pointing Device
Enables you to speak data instruction using voice input and to capture live full motion images using video input.
Voice and Video Input
Light sensing input device that converts printed text and images into a form that the computer can process.
Scanner
An output device that produces text and graphics on a physical medium (paper).
Printer
It conveys text, images, and video information.
Display
Allows you to hear audio or sounds.
Speakers
It consists of electronic components that store instructions waiting to be executed and the data needed by those instructions. It stores data in a short-time only.
Memory
It holds data, instructions, and information for future use. It store data for long-term basis.
Storage
A storage device that contains one or more inflexible, circular platters that use magnetics particles to store data, instructions, and information. It is enclosed in airtight, sealed, case to protect it from contamination.
Hard Disk
This uses flash memory to store data, instructions, and information. It stores persistent data.
Solid-State Drives (SSD)
This is used to collectively refer to hard disk and SSDs and stores digital content such as document, photos, etc.
Hard Drive
A portable storage device that you plug in a USB port.
Flash Drive
A removable flash memory, not bigger than 1.5 inch that you can insert in and remove from a slot in a computer, mobile device, or card reader/writer.
Memory card
It consist of a flat, round, portable metal disc that is written and read by a laser.
Optical Disc
An internet service that provides remote storage to computer users like dropbox, Google Drive, amazon drive, etc.
Cloud Storage
A duplicate of content on a storage medium that you can use in case the original is lost, damaged, and destroyed.
BackUp
A global library of information available to anyone connected to the internet.
World Wide Web (WEB)
Worldwide collection of computer networks and connects to millions of businesses.
Internet
Worldwide collection of electronic documents.
Web
The electronic document on the web.
Webpage
A collection of related webpages, which is stored on a web server.
Website
A computer that delivers requested webpages to your computer or mobiles devices.
Web server
It contains links (hyperlink) that is built-in connection to other documents, graphics, audio files, webpages, etc.
Webpages
It enable users with an internet connection to access and view webpages on a computer (chrome, safari, firefox, and explorer).
Browser
It is the usage of the web to search for a specific information.
Web searching
A software that finds websites, webpages, images, videos, and other information related to specific topic.
Search Engine
A website where people share their interest, ideas, stories, photos, etc. Example for this is Facebook.
Online Social Networks
A software that acts without the user’s knowledge and deliberately alters the computer’s operations. There is the performing of unwanted actions.
Malware (Malicious Software)
A type of waste refers to discarded electronic devices that are thrown away and transported to landfills. Most contain non-biodegradable materials and heavy metals that are toxic.
E-waste
The old devices are burned which could release toxic smoke into the air that resulted to bad health problems like cancer and kidney disease.
Health Hazard
A study of designing, manufacturing, using and disposing of hardware, software, and networks in a way that reduces their environmental impact.
Green Computing
Consists of programs that control and maintain the operation of the computer and its devices. Example for this is an Operating System.
System Software
Is a set of programs that coordinates all the activities among computer hardware. It has a large number of different functions and jobs.
Operating System
A hardware capable of transferring items from computers and devices to transmission media and vice versa (modem - router).
Communication Device
It use some form of telephone wiring or fiber optic cable to send communication signals.
Wired communication
This are more convenient than installing wires and cables. This sends signals through the air or space like wifi, Bluetooth, and cellular radio.
Wireless communication
A collection of computers and devices connected together, via communication devices and transmission media. This allows computers to share resources such as hardware, software, data, and informaiton.
Network
Any hardware component that conveys information from a computer or mobile device to one or more people.
Output Devices
A computer keeps data, instructions, and information on __________.
Storage media

Storage device
A program is the process of setting up the program to work with the computer, printer, mobile devices, and hardware.
Installing
Also called as developer or programmer, is someone who develops programs and apps or writes the instructions that direct the computer to process data into information.
