31
Q

What is a DA Form 3479? What is it used for?

A

Training and Proficiency Record, Air Traffic Controller

Used as a comprehensive record of training, certification, qualification, proficiency, ratings, and duty assignments

32
Q

Where will controllers DA 3479 be stored?

A

In a locked cabinet in AIC facility chief office

33
Q

Who has access to these records?

A

Controllers can view their records upon request
ATSCOM
Commanders
FAA Authorities
Supervisors
Aircraft Accident and flight violation investigators
Systems managers and their authorized representatives
Military examiners who facility-rate the controller on duty
Other authorized individuals who request the folders in person from the custodian or who submit written requests to system managers

34
Q

Why are Radios, NAVAIDs, and RADAR vulnerable to electronic warfare?

A

Due to the nature of their operations, they depend on electronic broadcasting and receiving electronic broadcasts in return.

35
Q

What does ECM and ECCM stand for?

A

Electronic Counter Measures

Electronic Counter-Counter Measures

36
Q

What are steps to reduce or eliminate the effects of Electronic Counter measures or mutual interference?

A

Checking equipment for proper alignment and frequency
Increasing power, if possible
Checking antenna for correct azimuth and polarization
Varying antenna height or relocating antenna
Requesting a new frequency if the above fails to work
Initiating a MIJI report

37
Q

What does MIJI stand for?

A

Meaconing
Intrusion
Jamming
Interference

38
Q

What is Meaconing?

A

a system of receiving radio beacon signals from NAVAIDs and re-broadcasting them on the same frequency to confuse navigation

39
Q

What is Intrusion?

A

is the intentional insertion of electromagnetic energy into transmission paths with the objective of deceiving equipment operators or causing confusion

40
Q

What is Jamming?

A

is a deliberated radiation, re-radiation, or reflection of electromagnetic energy with the object to impairing the use of electronic devices, equipment or systems

41
Q

How to identify jamming?

A

Random Noise- random in amplitude and frequency; similar to background noise and can be used to degrade all types of signals
Spark- burst of short duration and of high intensity, one of the most effective and easily generated methods
Gulls- quick rise and a slow fall of a variable radio frequency
Random Pulse- use to disrupte radar and all data transmission
Wobbler- a howling sound

42
Q

What is interference?

A

any electrical disturbance that causes undesirable response in electronic equipment

43
Q

What are other reasons for interference that are not caused by the enemy?

A
unintentionally by other radios
other electronic or electric/electromechanical equipment
atmospheric conditions
malfunction of the radio
combination of any of the above
44
Q

If MIJI is encountered at Udairi Radio what must happen?

A

A MIJI report initiated by the Shift Leader and annotated on DA Form 3502

45
Q

What is the format for reporting MIJI?

A
Type of report
Affected station
Station location or grid coordinate
Frequency or channel affected
Type of equipment affected
Type emission or audio characteristics of influence
Strength of interference
Time interference started
Interference effectiveness
Operator name
Additional remarks
46
Q

What is the DA Form 3502 and it’s purpose?

A

Daily Report of Air Traffic Control Facility
Used to record daily activities in all Army ATC facilities. Completed daily and retained for a minimum of twelve calendar months

47
Q

What is the DA Form 3503 and it’s purpose?
