What are historians
Peolpe who study and writ about the past
When was a primary source written
At the time that the place took place and it is made by somebody who witnessed it
What is bias
One-sided account eg.like an autobiography could only say the good features about the person but not the bad features
What is propaganda
The information may be used to promote the ideas of an organisation
What are memoirs
A written account of personal experience
What is caricature
It is when they make a person look funny and make fun of them in like a cartoon. They usually exaggerate
What does AD stand for and what is the translation
Anno Domini Latin for the for ‘in the year of the Lord”
Where do they store artefacts and where do they store written documents
They store artefacts in a museum and written documents in libraries or archives
What is census
A survey of population numbers in a country at a particular time
What is archeology
It is the study of things people left behind. It is a way of finding out about the earliest period of history before written records were kept=pre-history
What is stratigraphy
The study of such layers of soil
Why does aerial photography help to find ancients remains
Photographs take from the air can often show ancient remains that would not be visible on the ground. Crops and grass grow differently if there is an ancient building. This is called crop marks
What are the steps of a dig
- seal of the area from the general public
- topsoil is removed
- site is divided into different squares + site grid is drawn
- Start carefully digging ( excavation)

Trowel, sieve, toothbrush, photographic scales and polythene bags
