Chapter 1 - Anatomy Flashcards
Name all four chambers of the heart.
Right Ventricle, Left Ventricle, Right Atrium and Left Atrium
What tendineae is located between the the AV valves and the walls of all two lower chambers to prevent the collapsing of the valves due to the pressure and force of the ventricles pumping out large amounts of blood?
Chordae tendinea
Where is the pulmonary vein located?
It is located on the left atrium
Where is the pulmonary artery located?
It is located on the right ventricle
Where is the vena cava located?
It is located on the right atrium
Where is the aorta located?
It is located on the left ventricle
What is the apex?
The apex is the bottom part of the heart, what some people would call the “point” of the heart.
Who’s job is it to deliver fresh blood off the aorta to the rest of the heart for the exchange, then they take it back to get filtered again. Where are the located?
The coronary vessels and they are located around and on the heart.
What are the semi-lunar valves?
The semi-lunar valves prevent back flow when negative pressure develops due to ventricular relaxation
Where are both nodes located?
They are both located in the right atrium the SA Node in the upper corner and the AV node in the bottom corner near the septum.
What is the wall of muscle called that separates all of the chambers?
It is the septum
What are the three branches of the aorta?
Brachiocephalic artery, left common carotid artery and left subclavian artery
