Accountability Definition (pg 15)
The obligation a person, group, or organization assumes for the execution of authority and/or fulfillment of responsibility.
Features of Accountability (pg 15)
- Answering - providing an explanation or justification for the execution of that authority and/or fulfillment of responsibility.
- Reporting on the results of execution and/or fulfillment
- Assuming liability for those results.

- skills needed to enhance the capability of mission attainment, technical expertise, control, operational priorities, follow department policies, aware of task/oriented to its attainment, etc.
“A” in Hu-Tack
Affective Skills
- Accepts responsibility, creates an environment based in equality and allows opportunity for all to succeed, fair with everyone, equal treatment, loyalty to the organization and subordinates, demonstrates integrity, organizational and community value systems, knowing personal strengths/weaknesses, be a role model, value employees and their contributions, etc.

Conceptual
- Assess performance, conceptualizes the technical and human aspects of the work environment, ability to analyze data, develope/share information, enhance/improve proficiency, identify problems and solutions, identify objectives, make decisions, use all resources, eliminate errors, etc.
“K” in Hu-Tack
Knowledge
- interest in seeing subordinates do a good job/complete their assignments, fairly implement policy/rules/regulations, interpret department policy, capable of doing all tasks an officer must perform, know each officer’s workload, organize workload effectively and efficiently, provide appropriate admin/technical support, review reports for accuracy/thoroughness/quality, schedule officers according to organizational priorities, train/develop officers, etc.
