Articulated Booms
Two or more folding booms

Booster Pump
A water pump mounted on the fire apparatus in addition to the fire pump. Can be used separate or together.
Bucket Brigade
Early effort in fire protection that used leather buckets filled with water to combat fires. Residents had to place a bucket full of water on the front porch at night.
Chemical Wagon
Small truck with a large soda acid extinguisher and 50’ or more of small booster hose.
Driver Operator
Completed NFPA requirements of 1002.
Fire Hook
A tool used to pull down burning structures.
Fire Plug
A valve installed to control water accessed from wooden pipes.
Fire Pump
A water pump with a rated capacity of 250 GPM or greater at 150 PSI. The pump is mounted to the apparatus and used for firefighting.
Hand Pump
A piston-driven, positive-displacement pump that is pushed up and down by fire fighters manning poles at the side of the pump.
Ladder Tower
An aerial ladder with a work platform permanently attached to the end of the ladder.
Triple-Combination Pumper
A truck that carries water in a tank generally used for the booster line and commonly called the booster tank.
Vehicle Data Recorder (VDR)
An apparatus-mounted recording system that notes what the fire apparatus was actually doing prior to a collision.
