What is absolute location?
The exact location of a place.
What is relative location?
A place where it is is in relation to other places on Earth.
What is latitude?
Horizontal lines running east and west across the world. Ex. 0 degrees equator
What is longitude?
Vertical lines running north and south across the world. Ex. 0 degrees Prime Meridian
What are landforms? 4 most common?
Characteristics of the land. The four most common landforms in US are mountains, plateaus, hills, and plains.
What is precipitation?
Water that falls to e earth surface such as rain, sleet, or snow.
What is climate?
The kind of weather a place has over a long period of time.
What is weather?
Temperature, precipitation, and wind right now.
What is the equator?
Circles the earth half way between the north and South Pole. Ex. 0 degrees latitude.
What is renewable resource?
Resources we can use again. Ex. Trees, water, and soil
What is non-renewable resource?
Resources that cannot be reused again. Ex. Coal, fuel, oil, minerals
What is elevation?
The height of land above sea level.
What is industry?
All the businesses that make one kind of product or provide one kind of service.
What is conservation?
The protecting of natural resources and using them wisely.
How does the exact location of a place effect it’s climate?
- not at equator
- cold at the poles
- colder in higher elevation
- warmer next to oceans
