Politics

Appealing directly to lawmakers and legislative staff either in meetings, by providing research and information, or by testifying at committee hearings.
Pathways of Action
Activities, institutions, and decision points in American politics and government that affect the creation, alteration, and preservation of laws on public policies.
Checks and balances
counterbalancing influences by which an organization or system is regulated, typically those ensuring that political power is not concentrated in the hands of individuals or groups.
Capitalism
an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
Socialism
a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
