Emergency Medical Technician
Team of health care professionals who, in each area or jurisdiction, are responsible for and provide emergency care and transportation to the sick and injured
Emergency Medical Services EMS
Decides day to day limits of EMS personnel. Can limit scope of practice but cannot expand it beyond state law.
Medical director
Detect life threatening cardiac arrhythmias and deliver the appropriate electrical shock to the patient
Automated external defibrillator
Individual who has training in basic life support, including automated external defibrillation, use of a definitive airway adjunct, and assisting patients with certain medications.
Requires 150 hrs
EMT
Training in specific apsects of ALS, such as IV therapy, and the administration of certain emergency medications
AdvancedEMT. AEMT
An extensive course training in ALS, including endotracheal intubation, emergency pharmacology, cardiac monitoring, and other advanced assessment and treatment skills
