What are the risks of being a team leader
- You will constantly be watched
- Trust and respect and extremely fragile
- You wont always be liked
- Some teammates might be jealous of you

What are the responsibilities of team leadership?
- lead drills, warmups etc
- Set the mental and emotional tone for the team
- Keep the coaches informed about team issues
- Provide input on team decisions
- Talk with struggling teammates
- Handle conflicts within team
- Plan team activities
- Be loyal to the coaches and support their decisions
What are some teammates expectations of leaders?
- Be the spokesperson for the team

Describe composure:
- Able to keep emotions in check
- Controls negative emotions
Describe character:
- Does the right thing on and off the court/field
- Responsible, accountable, reliable
- Honest with coaches and teammates/trustworthy
- Treats people with respect
Describe encourager:
A. Servant-puts needs of team ahead of their own
• willingly does the grunt work
• takes the younger athletes “under their wing”
• listens and supports teammates
B. Confidence-Builder-builds the confidence of teammates
• understands each teammate
• helps teammates feel good about themselves
