Chapter 1 Flashcards
Shutter Speed
effects light and motion
Stop
a unit of change with respect to aperture and shutter
Shutter Stops
(slow) 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 (fast)
Aperture Stops
(biggest) f1.4, f2, f2.8, f4, f5.6, f8, f11, f16, f22 (smallest)
Large aperture - least amount of light, produces shallow DOF
Small aperture - most amount of light, produces extended DOF
Motion
Enhance motion - object moves across the lens
Minimize motion - object moves toward or away from lens
To obtain sharp object + blurred background - follow the motion
To freeze motion - use a faster shutter speed
Depth of Field
that which is acceptably sharp in a photograph from near to far
effected by aperture, subject to camera distance, and focal length
Aperture
effects light and depth of field
Equivalent Exposure
when an appropriate aperture/shutter speed combination is established, you can change one setting in one direction so long as you change the other setting an equal amount in the opposite direction
