1.8 Operational Definition of Terms
This establishes the context of the research. This section explains why this particular research topic is important and essential to understanding the main aspects of the study.
Background of the Study
This is used in research work as a claim that outlines the problem addressed by a study. The statement of the problem briefly addresses the question: What is the problem that the research will address?
Statement of the Problem
This describe concisely what the research is trying to achieve. They summarize the accomplishments a researcher wishes to achieve through the project and provides direction to the study.
Objective of the Study
This refers to the potential importance, relevance, or impact of the research findings. It outlines how the research contributes to the existing body of knowledge, what gaps it fills, or what new understanding it brings to a particular field of study.
Significance of the Study
This term refers to the problem or
issue that the researcher wants to study with the project.
Scope
It is the term used for constraints that impact the researcher’s ability to effectively study the scope of the project.
Limitations
This states your predictions about
what your research will find. It is a tentative answer to your research question that has not yet been tested.
Hypothesis
It is a foundational review of existing theories and laws that serves as a roadmap for developing the arguments you will use in your own work.
Theoretical Framework
They are developed by researchers to explain phenomena, draw connections, and make predictions.
