Geography
“Earth” (Geo), “To write” (Graphy), the study of where things are found on Earth’s surface and the reasons for the locations.
Place
A specific point on Earth distinguished by a particular characteristic. Every place occupies a unique location and position.
Region
An area of Earth defined by many characteristics.
Scale
The relationship between the portion of Earth being studied and Earth as a whole (E.g. Global - Local)
Space
The physical gap or interval between two objects.
Connection
The relationship amongst people or objects across the barrier of space.
Reference Maps
A reference tool to find the shortest route or show where on Earth something is located.
Cartography
Science of mapmaking.
Map
A two-dimensional or flat scale model (or portion) of Earth’s surface.
Thematic Maps
A communication tool that depicts the distribution of human activities and physical features.
