Cartography
The science of making maps.
Latitude
Longitude is an angular measurement north or south of the equator.

The position of a place or entity based on its location with respect to other locations.

The misrepresentation of shape, area, distance, or direction of or between geographic features when compared to their true measurements on the curved surface of the earth.
Cultural Landscape
A geographic area the includes cultural resources and natural resources associated with the interactions between nature and human behavior.
Toponym
The study of geographical names, or place names, of a particular region.
Site
The physical character of place; what is found at the location and why it is significant.
Situation
The location of a place relative to other places.
Functional Region
An area organized around a central focal point or node.
Formal Region
An area within which everyone shares distinctive characteristics.
Vernacular Region
A perceptual or vernacular region is defined by feelings and prejudices that may or may not be true.
Environmental determinism
A philosophy of geography that stated that human behaviors are a direct result of the surrounding environment.
Possibilism
The theory that the physical environment may set limits on human actions, but people have the ability to adjust to the physical environment and choose a course of action from many alternatives.
