Organizational behaviour
Is concerned with the behaviour of individuals and groups in an organizational context.
Purpose of OB
Improve our understanding: of ourselves and our behaviour, and that of others, and of organisations – that is, knowledge for knowledge’s sake.
To enable people to be better managers
To improve organisational effectiveness to enable organisations to run better.
To improve understanding, not just for its own sake, but to challenge how things are perceived and done now – that is, to challenge the status quo – and to try to bring about change.

Why do we use theories ?
It helps in building generalised models applicable to a range of organisations or situations. It provides a conceptual framework and gives a perspective for the practical study of the subject.
Normative models
How things should be, as depicted in the literature or even in organizational policies
The organizational dilemma
Refers to the difficulty that may be experienced in recon- ciling individual goals with organizational goals.
Organization
A social arrangement for achieving controlled performance in pursuit of collective goals
Pluralist
Which suggests a number of diferent interest groups, each with difering goals
Radical perspective
Sees the capitalist economic system and the work organizations within such systems as leading inevitably to exploitation of employees and their alienation
