when do you use “qui”?
The relative pronoun used as a subject of a dependent clause is qui (who, that, which). It can refer to both people and things.
when do you use “que”?
The relative pronoun used as a direct object of a dependent clause is que (whom, that, which). It also can refer to both people and things.
when do you use “où”?
Où is the relative pronoun of time and place. It can mean where, when, or which.
when do you use “dont”?
The pronoun dont is used to replace the preposition de (du, de la, de l’, des) plus its object. If the verb of the dependent clause requires the preposition de (as in parler de, avoir besoin de, etc.) before an object, use dont. Dont is also used to express possession.
