Neuroleptic malignant syndrome presentation?
High fever Muscle rigidity Autonomic instability Diaphoresis Sialorrhea Seizures Cardiac arrhythmias Rhabdomyolysis (high CK)
Characteristics of drug fever?
Patient recently started antibiotic and is now asymptomatic except continues to have fever with unknown cause
Associated symptoms with drug fever?
Rash and eosinophilia
When to initiate antibiotics for sinusitis?
3 of 4 days with severe symptoms:
Temp >= 39
Purulent drainage
Facial pain
What are the Centor criteria?
Temp > 38.1
Tonsillar exudates
Tender cervical lymphadenopathy
Absence of cough
All current guidelines: If >= 2 criteria, do rapid antigen test or throat culture
Characteristics of otitis externa?
Tenderness when pulling on tragus or pinna
Pain manifested by jaw motion
Clear tympanic membrane
Exudate in canal
Management of otitis media in adults?
Reassurance and observation…NO abx
