EMR Emergency Medical Responder
these practitioners provide treatment on scene but do not transport the patient.
EMT Emergency Medical Technician
Possesses the basic knowledge & skills necessary to provide PT care & transportation. EMTs perform interventions w/ basic equip/ & are an essential link in the prehospital emergency care continuum.
AEMT Advance Emergency Medical Technician
Provide basic & limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the EMS system
Paramedic
allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical & emergent PTs who access the EMS system.
Mobile integrated health care/ community paramedicine=
EMS practitioner practicing medicine outside the standard EMS system
Critical Care Paramedics
Educated in advanced airway, ventilator, fluid & electrolyte therapy, advanced pharm/, specialized monitors, operation of intra-aortic balloon pumps, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), & ect found in intensive care setting. This provides a safe & efficient way to move critical PTs between facilities w/o compromising hospital staffing
Helicopter Air Ambulance HAA
typically responds to both scene calls and interfacility transfers. The skills of the flight practitioner are very similar to those of a critical care practitioner but must be educated in flight physiology, aircraft operations, & flight safety
