what is social support
Social support refers to support from others that
makes a person feel cared for, valued, or part of a
group.
4 types of social support
- Tangible Support
- Emotional Support
- Informational Support
- Companionship Support

social relationships influence health by protecting people when they are under stress

matching hypothesis
social support is most effective when it matches the person’s specific needs
internal locus of control
belief that you have control over your life/ situation
external locus of control
belief that outside forces are responsible
self-efficacy
belief that you can succeed at a specific activity
outcome expectancy
belief that a behavior, if conducted properly, will produce a particular outcome
