There are many tourists in the town.
the majority of the houses/ buildings in Chipping Campden are made out of Cotswold stone, which gives off a very warm homely feeling.
chipping Campden is very picturesque small town, and is surrounded by fields and rolling hills, making it feel enclosed and safe.

A

roads- becoming more used with the increased use of cars
rail station located on the end of station road closed in 1966, but there’s still a rail there that goes from Worcester to Paddington, London.
bus routes- bus to Moreton to Stratford through Mickleton and Campden and via Blockley and Campden
broadband- before 2016, only 69.5% of the town had access to any kin of broadband, but in 2016 super fast was introduced there, allowing people to work from home rather than constantly travel into cities for work.

soft infrastructure

A

education- 6 school in total in a 3 mile radius- 2 primary schools and 1 high school, with ranging Ofsted ratings from ‘outstanding’ to ‘requires improvement’. CCs was founded in 1440
health services- on Back Lane there is a doctors surgery, sued by many villages surrounding the area. 3 care homes and 2 dentists, however the nearest minor injury and illness unit is in Moreton-in-Marsh, 6 miles away and the nearest large hospital with A and E is in Cheltenham, 21 miles away.
law enforcement- in 1871, the police station was built, but was closed a few years ago and the officers transferred to Moreton in Marsh, and the station is now used as a post office and gift shop for the tourists.
fire stations- in the Catbrook area of Campden is the community of Fire and Rescue station, they are on call and train weekly. covers area around Campden and Campden itself.
worship- 3 places of worship- St James Church, of the Church of England, St Catherines (a catholic church) and a Methodists church.

the main business type is for accommodation and food, to accommodate the large influx of tourists into the town, however, before there have been many shops which have gone out of business due to changing demand and increasing rents.

was a popular wool merchant of the time, bringing income to the local sheep farmers, as he would buy and sell their wool to the continent
at his own expense, he rebuilt the church, meaning it could be used by the town again.

A

was the first Lord of Campden, and the owner of the former Campden manor, which was burned down in the civil war.
he built the market hall for £90 in 1612, which is used now for markets, though was used more in the past for regular farmers markets every Wednesday.
for the poor in Campden he build the Almshouses, for 6 poor men and 6 poor women, which cost £1000 and is now used for the elderly.
gave many things to the church, including a Bell and a Wall.

in 1902 he decided to move from London to Chipping Campden, bringing with him many of his craftsmen.
formed the school of arts and crafts in Elm Tree House on the Lower high street, which caused controversy with the Grammar school.

recent housing

A

due to recent growth of the population, this has meant that the town has needed to grow over time, resulting to numerous new housing estates and new building to be constructed, mainly on the fringe of the town.
There’s been many housing developments that are more retirement homes for wealthy people, rather than affordable housing, which changes the age demographics of the population
