Insider
The perspective of someone who knows a place Well and is familiar with it topographically as well as the daily events
Outsider
The perspective of someone who doesn’t know a place well, such as a visitor or someone who is marginalized in a community
Freehold
A type of tenure in which someone has outright ownership of the property and land
Private space
A space that is privately owned, limiting or preventing public access
Public
Space that is open and accessible to the public
Topophillia
An strong sense of love for a place
Topophobia
A strong fear of a place
Endogenous
A factor from within the town that affects the character, such as the topography or local stone
Exogenous
A factor from outside of a place that affects the character, such as a tnc from out of the area
Placeless
A place that is indistinguishable from other such places in appearance or character
Suburbanized village
A small settlement in which most of the workers commute out of the village, they are said to have urban values
Counter urbanisation
The movement away from large urban settlements to smaller rural places
Homogenisation
The process whereby places and social characteristics become so similar that they become indistinguishable
