Argues there’s different types masculinity emerging or change over time e.g.
Hegemonic - traditional/ dominant masculinity
Complicit - men who believe men and women should share same roles within the household
Subordinate - less powerful and carry lower status. E.g. Homosexual masculinity
Marginalised - men who did traditionally masculine jobs and now feel their masculinity is under threat as many of those jobs have been lost

Supported Nixon - discussed patterns of men in 80s changed due to portrayal of men in the media e.g. toiletries promoted lead to increase in designer brands for men. Men sexualised in the media for the first time

Ladettes = female lad
Forceful, disruptive and seen as unladylike.
Nixon
came up with origins of ‘New Man’ (type of metrosexual identity) roots to Levi’s advert showed it was cool for men to spend money, time,and effort on appearance
