ID Cards
The new cards have the latest security technology and have several features to protect them against fraud, tampering and counterfeiting. Some of the new features include:
Vertical layout for persons under 21
Cardholders’ date of birth and signatures can be felt by touch
Images that can only be seen with the use of an ultra violet light
Laser perforation outline of the California Brown Bear, which can only be seen from the front of the card when a flashlight is pressed against the back of the card.
Online
Another advantage created by technology includes the ability to complete a variety of tasks using the official DMV website at www.dmv.ca.gov. Some of the services you can expect from the website now include:

The ability to complete these tasks online helps save time and money.
In the Car
Cars equipped with these computers can display things such as current fuel levels, tire pressure, average mileage as well as less technical things such as taking voice activated commands to change the indoor temperature or radio station. These features allow for information to be streamlined to the driver in a manageable way. Another technical innovation in vehicles is the inclusion of GPS navigation. GPS navigation systems give drivers pinpoint directions to their destination - virtually replacing paper maps. Modern GPS systems even allow for more advanced features such as re-routing the driver to avoid traffic accidents or backups, tolls, or construction zones. These features allow drivers to get places quickly and efficiently. With the advancement in GPS satellite technology; we can now see ourselves on the road with extreme precision. A GPS system can usually tell the driver where they are located to within a square city block of accuracy - most times even to the exact point of location.
