I have asked the question what does the cerebral cortex look like and answered think of a gortex jacket (because jackets go over the outside of things/you) but this applies to its location rather than to a valid description of it. What should be added?

Think of a gortex jacket that is covered in intestines. The jacket would then cover the location and the intestines would give an apt description of it.
