Changes to a Forest Flashcards

1
Q

Q

What is difference in habitat loss and habitat degradation?

A
  • Loss causes major change to habitat causing species to no longer persist.
  • Meanwhile degradation is more common, only lowers population, and may be temporary

Q

What is the difference in forestry and deforestation?

Q

How are forests impacted from edge to interior?

A
  • Things on edge have higher predation effects and are more vulnerable to mortality (but good for foraging).
  • Edge factors are impacted by both biotic and abiotic factors which can affect species interactions from edge to interior
