50 chain is what type of chain?
5/8 standard chain
Ways to join chain together
Connecting link(master link)
Half link(offset link)
35 chain would be what type of chain?
3/8 pitch rollerless
2 strand does what to your chains capacitys?
Doubles load, speed does not change.
Heavy chain (eg. 50H chain)
Has the size up plate and pin thickness at the same pitch.
Advantages to chain
• Versatility- cut to length
• Variety- lots of variations
• Positive engagement- engagement with sprockets to prevent slippage
• Durability
• Shelf life
• Can handle higher HP loads and speed
Disadvantages to chain
• standard chains may be high noise
• slightly lower speed capabilities than belts
• Typically, sprockets wear faster than sheaves
Type of chain that should not be lubed
Self lubricating chain
A type of chain with double the pitch length and half the pitches
Double pitch roller chain
Example: 2050 is double pitch roller 5/8 diameter.
30050
Stainless 5/8 standard chain
60050 would be?
Nickel/Zinc chain (hardened stainless)
