Trains-too easy for enemy to spot
Canal-discreet and comfortable 
Stretchers-carry men from battlefield.
Horse drawn carriages-made injury worse
Motor ambulances are crap however in 1914 there are 512 delivered and FANY can drive.

What is the regimental aid post?

A

It is a place for basic first aid for the wounded carried in by stretchers and only 200m from front line.

What is the advanced dressing station?

A

400m away
10 medical officers per station
When people were more hurt they’d be treat here, could treat up to 150 men.
RAMC worked here.

What was the casualty clearing station?

A

Dealt with critical injuries and located near a railway so men could be sent home. Split into 3 groups, walking wounded, hospitalised and those going to die.

What was a base hospital?

A

More equipped to treat specific injuries and send the men home to heal. Doctors had more time and facilities so there are wards where men became specialists in dealing with specific injuries.
