Language is used to maintain and convey culture and cultural ties. Different ideas stem from differing language use within one’s culture and the whole intertwining of these relationships start at one’s birth
Socio linguistics?
The study of language in relation to social factors, including differences of regional, class, and occupational dialect, gender differences, and bilingualism
Dialect?
Grammatical constructions that deviate from those used by socially dominant groups in society
Sapir-Whorf hypothesis?
The hypothesis that perceptions and understandings of time, space, and matter are conditioned by the structure of a language
