Ch.4 Flashcards
Actions to divert, disrupt, delay, or destroy an enemy’s surface capabilities before they can be used against friendly forces.
Interdiction operations
What are the four actions of interdiction?
Diversion
Disruption
Delay
Destroy
Actions of Interdiction:
Divert enemy forces from areas where there are critical operation requirements; consume resources or capabilities critical to enemy operations.
Diversion
Actions of Interdiction:
Interrupt or impede enemy or enemy capabilities/systems
Disruption
Actions of Interdiction:
Delay time of arrival of enemy forces
Delay
Actions of Interdiction:
Damage structure, function, or condition of a target
Destroy
What are the six objectives of interdiction?
Direct attrition
Constricting logistics
Disrupting C2
Forcing urgent movement
Channeling enemy movement
Denying threat potential
Operations require an integrated, flexible, and responsive C2 structure to process interdiction req’s and a dependable, interoperable, and secure communications architecture
C2 considerations for interdiction
Commanders direct and sustain combat power toward enemy forces in concert with adjacent units. Primarily refers to ops along identified Forward Lines of Own Troops (FLOTs)
Linear Operations
Forces orient on objectives without geographic reference to adjacent forces. Place a premium on intel, mobility, and sustainment i.e. Inherent Resolve
Non-linear
Indicates most forward positions of friendly forces during linear operations at a specific time
Flot
Established by land or amphibious force commander that requires coordination of joint fires in support of common objectives. Facilitate expeditions engagement of targets of opportunity beyond coordinating measure.
FSCL
Where does AI primarily occur?
Along the FSCL
Unique 3d permissive fire support coordinating measure with an associated airspace coordinating measure used to facilitate joint fires with an area.
Kill Box
Kill Box Types:
Attacks with air-to-surface munitions only
Blue Kill Box
Kill Box Types:
Attacks with air-to-surface, surface-to-surface, and subsurface-to-surface munitions
Purple Kill Box
Statuses:
Kill box or portion of, where fires or effects of fires are allowed
Hot
Statuses:
Kill box or portion of, where fires are not allowed without further coordination
Cold
Statuses:
Aircraft are cleared to operate inside the kill box
Open
Statuses:
Aircraft are restricted from operating inside
Closed
Identified too late to be included during the deliberate targeting phase; usually established during execution phase
Immediate Kill Box
Altitudes, restrictions, frequency use, and control measures within kill box are accomplished via appropriate C2 system and procedures.
C2 updates on kill boxes
