Mission
The basic purpose of the organisation in general terms - why you do what you do.
Mission statement
Published statement of fundamental objectives
Vision statement
Medium to long term ideal position and aspirations
Primary objectives
Aka corporate objectives - the major overriding objectives of the organisation as a whole.
Secondary objectives
The various strategies that need adopting to meet the primary objectives
Positional power
Due to hierarchy, formal authority and reputation
Resource power
An individual can control, obtain or create resources or other items of value
System power
Because a stakeholder has high visibility, political access or is relevant to a particular situation
Expert power
An individual has information, knowledge or expertise that is important to the organisation
Personal power
Individual has good communication skills, reputation and is well liked
Satisficing
Aim for compromise, allowing more than one group to “win”
Sequential attention
Satisfy key players first, then keep satisfied
Side payments
Compensate stakeholders who’s objectives can’t be met
Power
Resolve the situation by using any power than we might possess
Civil Society
Non-governmental organisations, mass public and knowledge based communities. Non-business groups that represent the people in society
