ascanius
Aeneas’s son from his first marriage; became ruler when Aeneas died
alba longa
the settlement founded by Ascanius, located in the alban hills
rhea silvia
the daughter of Numitor (rightful king); she was made a vestal virgin, so she was not allowed to marry (thus, she could not have heirs)
romulus & remus
sons of rhea silvia and mars; condemned to be drowned in the river Tiber, but the river was flooded and they were left in a basket; a she-wolf found them and raised them; grew up to kill Amulets and made Numitor the ruler of Alba Longa again; wanted to found a new settlement where they were abandoned (not knowing who should be king, Romulus killed his brother and the city was named Rome after him)

god of the sky, used thunderbolts to punish the wicked
neptune
jupiter’s brother; god of water and of the sea (carries a trident)
minerva
goddess of wisdom and handicrafts; sprang fully armed from the head of jupiter
apollo
son of Jupiter; god of the sun, prophecy, music, and healing

goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality; born from the foam of the sea; mother of cupid

the lame god of fire and blacksmiths
mars
the god of war; father of Romulus (founder of rome) and Remus

the god of wine and freedom of the spirit

messenger of the gods; wore winged cap and sandals; god of traders

wife of Jupiter; goddess of women and marriage
