invigorates blood, reduces swelling, and alleviates pain.

su mu
tonifies kidney yang (KD yang deficiency) and in topical application it stimulates hair growth and treats vitiligo (used as a tincture for topical application)
KD def: weak low back, knees, cock’s crow diarrhea, tinnitus, deafness, toothache, bleeding gums; modern use for osteoporosis
gu sui bu
dispels stasis, alleviates pain, yet stops bleeding and generates flesh
Stasis: contusions, fractures, blood stasis pain
Bleeding: internal- chronic non-healing ulcers, upper GI bleeding
External: injuries, hemorrhoids
xue jie (dragons blood)
this group of herbs is harsher and stronger and is mainly used for masses and tumors. they may also be used for amenorrhea, pain, and hemiplegia due to blood stasis
they easily consume qi and blood, and are cautioned or contraindicated in cases of hemorrhage, blood and yin def, qi def and weak constitutions
e zhu, san leng, chuan shan jia
These two herbs are very similar: they break up blood stasis, move qi, and alleviate pain- abdominal/epigastric masses, pain. amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, postpartum pain. they also accumulations of food and treat cancer
E Zhu and San leng
dispels blood stasis, unblocks menses, promotes lactation, reduces swellings and discharges pus. - amenorrhea, abdominal masses, wind damp bi, lack or insufficient lactation, toxic swellings, boils before ulcerations, phlegm nodules, scrofula
